Michael R. Evans is the Professor of Controlled Environment Agriculture and Co-Director Controlled Environment Agriculture Innovation Center for Virginia Tech. Formerly the Director of the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Michael is currently conducting research in controlled environment agriculture, focusing on the production of crops such as lettuce, herbs, medicinal plants, and strawberries in soilless and hydroponic systems within greenhouses, factories, and vertical farms.

Michael’s education includes a Ph.D. Horticulture, University of Minnesota in 1990, M.S. Horticulture, University of Minnesota in 1987, and a B.A. Horticulture, Virginia Tech in 1985.
