Lisa Rayburn
Lisa Rayburn works for North Carolina State University as an area extension agent. She provides technical support for commercial fruit and vegetable growers. Lisa has experience working with a wide range of producers both in the field as well as in greenhouses and high tunnels and has a passion for applied research that helps growers solve real-world problems.
As a Master’s student at NCSU, Lisa’s thesis research focused on the adaptation of a long-cane raspberry production system for the southeastern United States. The long-cane system is based on growing containerized raspberry plants in high tunnels and she evaluated the use of a locally-produced pine bark substrate as an alternative to coco coir.
Prior to joining extension, Lisa’s horticulture background included teaching as well as managing production greenhouses and a plant tissue culture lab.
