University of Florida Offers Online Course for Growing Hydroponic Vegetables

From October 21 to November 15, 2024, University of Florida (UF) will offer an online course for growing hydroponic vegetables. This introductory course will teach you about the fundamentals of climate, water, nutrition, and plant health in hydroponic environments as well as how to manage different hydroponic systems.

Eight topics will be covered in the course, ranging from business management to growing specific types of crops hydroponically. These include:

  1. Hydroponic growing systems and structures
  2. Environment (light, temperature, relative humidity, and CO₂)
  3. Plant health
  4. Water and nutrients
  5. Lettuce and leafy greens
  6. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers
  7. Microgreens and indoor protection under LEDs
  8. Business management and food safety

An experienced team of instructors from UF and Cornell University will teach the course.
