Upcoming: Aquaponics Short Course at Cornell University

Cornell University will host its 25th annual Aquaponics Short Course March 24-27 and April 10 via Zoom. During the course, three of Cornell’s industry experts will cover the latest topics in aquaculture, hydroponics, and aquaponics. Class lasts from 3:15-6:15 p.m. EST each day, with periodic breaks and opportunities to ask questions between sessions. Here’s a brief look at the agenda:

Day 1 – March 24

Michael Timmons, Ph.D., will cover the basics of recirculating systems and engineering in aquaponics.

Day 2 – March 25

Eugene Won, Ph.D., will lead sessions on fish biology concerns in aquaculture and Dr. Timmons will help growers establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) in their facilities.

Day 3 – March 26

The third day will focus on hydroponic systems and the economics behind aquaponics operations.

Day 4 – March 27

To conclude the course, all three instructors will speak on the business elements of aquaponics.

Day 5 – April 10

A follow-up Q&A session will be held two weeks after the main four-part course. This gives participants an opportunity to study and work with what they’ve learned, identifying how it applies to their project, program, or research.
