MSU Webinar: How Do You Stack Up Against Greenhouse Energy Benchmarks?
After labor, energy use is the largest operational expense for greenhouse growers. If you’re wondering how your energy usage stacks up to other greenhouse operations, you can confidentially compare your numbers with energy benchmarks by attending Michigan State University’s (MSU) webinar on January 22 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EST.
During this session, Aluel Go, Agrosystems Energy Outreach Coordinator at MSU and Michigan Farm Energy Program Manager, will discuss the new Greenhouse Energy Index Decision Support Tool. Developed by Western Michigan Greenhouse Association (WMGA), this new tool will help growers determine their business’ energy efficiency levels and implement common energy conservation measures. In addition, the tool will assist greenhouse businesses in prioritizing energy efficiency projects.
What Attendees Should Bring
To get the most out of this webinar, attending greenhouse growers are encouraged to bring:
- Square footage of their heated and cooled areas
- Annual energy usage; electricity (kWh) or natural gas (MMBTU or Therms)
- Average or latest energy cost per kWh, MMBTU, or Therms
It’s important to note that attendees will be asked not to share their business numbers with other participants.
